Not every experience has the same requirements
A rainforest walk, a nature activity, a restful stay, and a ceremonial practice do not require the same preparation. Inner Forest Lodge applies criteria proportionate to the activity selected and communicates additional considerations before participation.
Prior information and responsible decision-making
Before certain activities we may request relevant information about health conditions, history, medications, allergies, or other circumstances that could affect safety. The purpose is to organize participation with greater care, not to provide a medical diagnosis.
If you have a health condition, take prescription medication, have a relevant medical history, or simply have doubts about whether an activity is suitable for you, we recommend speaking beforehand with a qualified health professional who knows your situation.
Circumstances requiring special attention
The following examples are general and do not replace individual assessment. Depending on the activity, some circumstances may call for professional advice, additional information, or a recommendation not to take part in that specific activity.
- Cardiovascular, liver, neurological, or other conditions that could be affected by physical exertion, changes in blood pressure, intense stress, or psychoactive substances.
- Relevant psychiatric history, recent periods of severe emotional instability, or circumstances in which a high-intensity experience may not be appropriate.
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding, or other physiological circumstances that may require additional precautions.
- Current use of medicines or substances that may interact with a particular activity. This is especially important for ceremonial practices involving ayahuasca or other psychoactive preparations.
Medication: do not make changes on your own
Do not stop, reduce, increase, or otherwise change prescribed medication for the purpose of participating. If a possible incompatibility exists, any change should be decided with the health professional responsible for your treatment.
Information you provide should be complete and kept current. If your health, medication, or circumstances change before an activity, tell the team before participating.
When an activity includes ayahuasca
Some considerations become especially important when a ceremonial activity includes ayahuasca because its psychoactive compounds and harmala alkaloids can interact with certain medications and health conditions. These precautions do not automatically apply to every other part of an Amazonian stay.
If you have questions related to your health, history, or medication, seek professional advice before deciding whether to take part in this type of ceremonial activity.
Alternatives and the right not to participate
If one activity is not appropriate for you, that does not necessarily mean the entire experience must be ruled out. When possible, the team can guide you toward activities compatible with your circumstances and the program booked.
You may decide not to take part in a specific activity. Safety and personal autonomy take priority over the expectation of completing every activity in a program.
